Why a Simple Morning Ritual Might Be All You Need

Why a Simple Morning Ritual Might Be All You Need

You know, I really do have a good sense of humor. I love to laugh. And I love hearing others laugh, too.

But when I look at my writing? It’s often so dang… serious.

So today’s post is a little lighter. I hope it makes you smile—or maybe even giggle.

Let’s Talk About Morning Rituals

Gurus and coaches love to preach about the importance of a morning ritual.

As soon as your eyes open, they say:

  • Give thanks to the Universe.
  • Invite prosperity and your dream clients into your world.
  • Sit quietly and meditate.
  • Write in your journal.
  • Drink two tall glasses of water.
  • Read or listen to something motivational.

Sounds great in theory. But when do you actually start your damn day?

My Simple Morning Ritual

Here’s what mine looks like:

  • I turn on the coffee.
  • I feed the cats.
  • I jot down five things I’m grateful for.

That’s it. No elaborate checklist. No pressure to perform.

After that, I get going with my day. That’s what feels right for me.

Stop Feeling Guilty for Doing It Your Way

I used to feel guilty for not following the advice of people who seemed wiser than me.

Now? I shrug and say, “To each their own.”

If I tried to cram in everything the gurus suggest, I’d be a stressed-out mess by 9 a.m. Honestly, I’d rather start with calm than chaos.

Use Suggestions as Guidelines—Not Gospel

Here’s today’s little truth bomb: Just because someone else swears by a long list of morning rituals doesn’t mean you have to follow suit.

Take what works for you. Leave the rest.

Don’t assume someone else’s path is more enlightened than yours. It’s not.

Your simple morning ritual is enough—if it grounds you, soothes you, and helps you step into your day with purpose.

So find the rhythm that feels good in your heart and follow that.

That’s all you need. I promise.

Sending you love (and coffee).

Here’s an interesting read on the benefits of a morning routine if you’re curious what research says.
