What Resilience Means (And Why You Already Have It)
What does resilience mean to you?
To me, it’s pretty simple. Resilience is grit.
It’s the strength to pick yourself up again—every time you fall. It’s having the inner reserves to keep going, no matter what.
Simple to define. Hard as hell to live.
When Life Knocks You Down (Again and Again)
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to give up. To just dissolve into a little puddle on the floor.
A puddle of sadness. Of white-hot anger. Of overwhelming grief.
But I never did.
Even when the dark years stretched on endlessly. Even when I felt completely alone. Even when I lost yet another job or ended another relationship.
I didn’t know why I kept going. But I did.
That’s What Resilience Means
It means continuing to search for the light, even when it feels impossible. It means crying your way through it, screaming if you need to, but never staying stuck.
Eventually, I found that light. It took years. It took rivers of tears. But I found it.
And I want that for you, too.
You’re Stronger Than You Think
I wish there were words big enough to describe how proud I am of my grit and my growth. That’s what resilience means to me.
And if you’re still here, still fighting—whether your battles are loud or silent—I want you to feel proud, too.
Please hear me when I say:
- It’s okay to cry.
- It’s okay to take a break.
- It’s okay to grieve and scream and fall apart.
But don’t unpack and live there.
Keep Getting Up
Whether you believe it or not, you already have what it takes. Every single one of us does.
Some of us just have to dig a little deeper to find it.
You can be, do, and have everything you want. You just have to keep getting up.
That’s the truth. That’s resilience.
Sending you all so much love.
Here’s a deeper look at resilience and how to build it if you’re curious about the science behind it.
